Sarah's First Taste of Red Lead
January 6, 2003
I know the day is approaching quickly, but I still haven't been able to bring myself to cover Dave's beautiful work on the new floors with red lead.
Practicality won out though when Dave cut the new floor bolts down and didn't want the ends exposed to moisture. He used one of the old keel bolt washers as a guide and taped it to the top of the new floor before using the sawz-all to cut the bolt as flush as possible.
Dave then drilled the tops of the bolts down using a 1/2" bronze bushing on the end of the drill bit and using a hose clamp as a depth stop. I need to compile a seperate page of Dave's handy inventions.
